External Login - WordPress plugin | WordPress.org

Description External Login allows you to login to your WordPress site using an 'external database' instead of the WordPress database. This means if you already have a login system you can integrate that into your WordPress site. The 'external database' that you would like to use does not have to be a WordPress database.

Set up WP Authentication from External API - WordPress ...

I was able to do this by WP's authenticate filter inside a new plugin; most of which is guided by this tutorial by Ben Lobaugh. Major points on the plugin: Make an API call function using cURL (you can get guide codes from Postman upon testing if you don't know already).

authentication - Login to external site for Wordpress ...

The original Wordpress site uses a widget where I only need to have the html information for the login laid out. But I am having trouble reproducing the same effect in Elementor. I have tried setting up an Elementor login widget using their login creation but it does not allow me to specify an external site to submit the username and password.

Login in Wordpress using external database data ...

You can override the core wp_authenticate function. You would need to create a custom plugin and declare a new version of wp_authenticate. The function accepts a username and a password and returns a WP $user object. wp_authenticate is a 'pluggable' function and it is found in the wp-includes/pluggable.php file.

Integrate WordPress Authentication in External PHP Files

The login page will perform both login and logout operations. As you can see, the login page will send the form data to itself so it can display an error message if the authentication fails. If the authentication is successful, the call to "authenticate ()" will redirect the visitor to the previous (protected) page.

WP REST API: How to Setup and Use OAuth Authentication

When it comes to WordPress REST API, OAuth is the most common authentication handling provider.. When OAuth authentication is in place, users first login through the WordPress login form that is in use on the website. however, this login also authorizes the clients to handle requests on their behalf and all subsequent requests are validated through OAuth tokens.

Using WordPress as a User and Authentication Database ...

WordPress is a great tool and you can hack all sorts of functionality into it, but have you ever thought about using it as a user authentication database for content on your server that is outside the realm of WordPress? Maybe a wiki or media server application that you only want your registered WordPress users to access.
